Songs Jesus Loaned Me
  • General introduction

I believe God through Jesus Christ created everything, seen and unseen. In fact there is nothing that exists or will exist that He has not created. This applies to all human activities that we term “creative”. If this premise is true, then humans don’t create; they discover. Certainly I did not create these songs. They were potential all the time. Every combination of rhythm, words, notes already exist. I discovered a few of them.

Discovery is an immense privilege, responsibility and joy of humans. God wants us to know him. He wants us to know everything He is and how He operates. He wants us to discover about the Big Bang and how the human mind functions. As a psychiatrist, I have had a special privilege in learning about the anatomy, biochemistry and psychology of the mind. God wants us to discover all the paintings and music that He has stored in some vast library. He rewards all those who search for Him and dig into His creation to find His nuggets of pure gold. I can only credit God for these songs, and thank him that he has given me the opportunity to discover them, and some talent in expressing them. Though sometimes at the worst times in my life, there was great joy in discovering them.

I composed these songs, sometimes under the most adverse conditions. I was so surprised that something joyful comes out of my head when I am in deep gloom and close to despair. This only emphasizes that these are discoveries, and that all discoveries are encouraged by God. I inherited from God, through my parents, a talent for music. I would be most remiss of I did not put this to good use. Although I have spent 45 years as a physician, and have enjoyed many hours constructing and inventing machinery, still deep in my heart there was always music. Now that that I am semi retired I have the time, maybe the push from God to put this talent to better use. I apologize to God for taking so long. I hope that you will enjoy these hymns, songs and dances. Sing them, comment on them, if you wish, revise them. But remember you need to give credit where credit is due; first to God, then to me, and then to those who have helped me.

I thank Dr. Oscar Clemente, Luke Stones, Mel Hoskyn, Dr. Anna Borowska and others who have encouraged me and have helped me to edit and organize these songs. Thanks gang. God will bless you.

These songs are in alphabetical order because there seems to be no other sensible organization. You will see that there is some change in words and notation over time. Some of those much earlier songs will, I hope, someday see the light.
