Songs Jesus Loaned Me

A solid rhythm should get you dancing as you sing. Jesus is Lord of the Dance, and he likes to see us move, not only our lips but our bodies as we praise him.

We live in a pioneering part of the world. Our little community was started by North American natives, loggers and fishermen. It now has 3 stop lights and a full symphonic orchestra. Loggers are a special breed. Although burly, tough and often badly scarred, there are some very sensitive, intelligent people among them. Of course they like to joke and they like to dance. You can imagine them doing this dance in their logging boots. ‘Caulk boots’ are those with spikes on their heels and soles, which prevent the logger slipping off the very slimy surfaces that are often found on logs in the woods. I call it a stomp because that is how loggers would probably dance when they have heavy boots and maybe carrying a chain saw or harness, etc. Loggers are some of the most skilled, courageous people on the face of the earth. As they say among loggers, “There are bold loggers and old loggers, but there are no bold, old loggers.” They have to be cautious, because death may come swiftly and unexpectedly. This song expresses both their joy and their impatience wanting Jesus to come soon. He will.
