“Why God did you let this happen to me”. “Why is life so unfair.” “I never got a chance”. “How come they have it so good when they show no regard for their fellow man.” “Life isn’t Fair”
Yes life is fair. There are 2 unseen factors that ensure life will be fair: 1) Add responsibility to privilege. 2) The opportunity to know God and the phenomenal joy of knowing Him better and better far outweighs any apparent disaster or poverty.
God insists that those who are blessed with a wealth of opportunity, intellect, education, money etc, share them among all people equally. If they don’t share, the privilege becomes an increasing burden of fear, satiation, misery, envy and the object of envy. As we give we get. When we love, we are simultaneously being loved.
The apostle Paul toward the end of his life recounted all the pain and hardship he had experienced. He put that in the balance with the joy of getting to know Jesus on the other side and, being the pragmatist that he was, concluded it was worth it. There was something about the “fellowship of His sufferings” that was incomparable to a life of ease. I thank God I have learned this lesson. I only wish it had been sooner.
If life isn’t fair, it is only our misperception and feeling sorry for ourselves that makes it seem so. When we count our blessings in Christ, we see how we are really so far ahead. Then we also become more thankful. When we are more appreciative and thankful, our Lord and our friends find it much easier to give to us. So paradoxically as we get more and thank more, we get more. And what we get is really good stuff. Stuff that we can take with us to heaven and stuff that will last thru eternity.
Life isn’t fair only to those who feel life isn’t fair
